The Naturalist Culture Exchange Program is a transformative 14-day experience designed for youth aged 10 to 20. It offers a rich blend of environmental education, cultural immersion, language learning, and life skills development — all set in the heart of East Africa.

Naturalist Culture Exchange Program

10-Day Schedule for Ages 10 to 20 Years

Experience an immersive journey into African culture, nature, sustainable practices and life skills. Our program aims at nurturing a world-minded (globally aware) citizenship among young participants through hands-on activities.

Day 1: Arrival & Cultural Welcome

• Airport pickup and transfer to Mkange Village.
• Traditional music, dance, and welcome ceremony.
• Orientation and safety briefing.
• Introduction to African values and world-minded citizenship.

Day 2: Exploring African Identity & Heritage

• Swahili basics and cultural expressions.
• Traditional storytelling and ancestral knowledge sessions.
• Workshop on cultural etiquette and traditional attire.
• Evening campfire with reflective journaling.

Day 3-4: Environmental Awareness & Wildlife Exploration

• Guided nature walk in Saadani National Park.
• Wildlife tracking and biodiversity education.
• Mangrove ecosystem visit and beach cleanup.
• Group reflection on nature’s impact.

Day 5-6: African Economy & Innovation Day

• Workshop on African economies, industries, and entrepreneurship.
• Visit to a local market or cooperative enterprise.
• Youth innovation challenge and idea development.
• Group showcase and interactive feedback.

Day 7: Permaculture & Vermicomposting Lab

• Introduction to sustainable agriculture and food security.
• Hands-on permaculture garden design.
• Building a vermicomposting bin using local materials.
• Cooking session with garden produce.

Day 8: Life Skills & Creative Expression Day

• Workshops on confidence, decision-making, and leadership.
• Creative arts session (clay, drawing, beadwork, music).
• Youth talent show and fun team-building games.

Day 9: Community Immersion & Cultural Exchange

• Pairing with local youth using a buddy system.
• Participation in a local school or village service project.
• Hosting a cultural exchange with games, food, and dance.

Day 10-11: Safari Day & Reflection

• Full-day safari in Saadani National Park with packed meals.
• Wildlife photography challenge.
• Sunset gratitude circle by the ocean.
• Preparation for the closing ceremony.

Day 12-13: Language, Legacy & Global Responsibility

• Travel to Zanzibar Island by using Boat on early morning.
• Advanced Swahili language session and African proverbs.
• Group debate on responsible world (world-minded) citizenship.
• Digital storytelling project (video/podcast).
• Writing letters to the future.

Day 14: Graduation & Departure

• Final group reflections and sharing personal growth testimonials.
• Certificate awarding ceremony and gift exchange.
• Departure with memory kits and follow-up plans for continued engagement.
